NEW: We have put
together a series of study plans for our boats, they are
free to download and will provide you with much more
information on the boat or boats you are contemplating
than we can fit on the web site.
Our focus is on boats, boats that not only live in backyards, but are constructed there, garages or basements. Built of wood, using a kit, or a set of plans as a guide to your goal: getting on the water in a craft you have constructed.
Brochures
There are two
smaller brochures that group boats by use. Below are links
for two of these, one for those interested in fishing and
one geared to smaller/lighter paddlers.
Our services range from design, both custom and stock or we can modify one of the existing designs to suit your needs, these options can be coupled with having a boat custom built for you from either an existing design, or a one off design. Call us to discuss pricing for these services.
Noah’s Marine Supply puts together our kits, allowing us to offer kits at a more competitive price point then we are able to on our own. Your kit will come from Noah’s, support during the build will be provided by us, should you have build questions we are just an e-mail or phone call away.
Orders can be
placed directly with Noah’s, through this site, or by
calling us directly to discuss your options. Kits that are
currently available directly through Noah's web
site are highlighted in blue the others can be ordered either
from them or by contacting us.
If you have
questions about which boat is right for you send us a note and
we will be happy to answer your questions.
Due to the rising cost of shipping kits that contain or are made up mainly of cedar strips can be ordered as Shorty Kits these kits are made up of shorter pieces of cedar rather than full length strips. This allows the kits to be shipped directly to your door by one of the delivery services rather than by truck, this will in some cases save you hundreds of dollars.
Shorty kits with three wood mix options, Northern White Cedar, Western Red Cedar, or a 50/50 mix of the two. Shorty kits made up of all Western Red will have the full length strips into pieces to give you exact color and grain matches when using the strips to build your boat.
To keep you up to date with what is happening on the drawing board and in the shop we have Facebook page, a Blog, and an Instagram account for which you can find the links below. We use the Facebook page in particular to keep everyone up-to-date on what is happening in the shop, designs we are working on, and it includes building albums of boats as they are under construction, this can helpful in gaining an understanding of the building processes.
One of the
lines of information we include is the PPI, (pounds per
inch immersion), the weight it takes to sink the boat one
inch [2.54 cm], this is included to give you an idea of
the effects of loading on the boat. If you normally paddle
your boat loaded close to it's capacity and you plan to go
away for the weekend and add 50 pounds [22.7kg.] of gear a
boat with a PPI of 75 pounds [34kg.] it will settle in the
water about 3/4" or about 2cm.
The capacities listed for kayaks are the capacities around which the boat was designed, the maximum is calculated using the methods found in the ABYC standards for small craft, which are the same as those for Canada. For kayaks these numbers are often higher than we would ever recommend as you load your boat, always be aware of; how the load is balanced, size of the load, the usage and conditions it will see.
Canoe
capacities are listed at various sinkages, the maximum
recommend capacity given is with 7" [178mm] free board as
set by the standards ABYC H-29 (US) and TP 1332E (Canada)
